Anchored: A Post-Wedding Brunch

Recently, the fabulous party site Pizzazzerie hosted a Summer Stripe Tablescape Contest. Joanna from Baked by Joanna and I were all over this and were excited to team up to create a new party idea. So, without further ado, I introduce to you Anchored: A Day-After Wedding Brunch.

With my closest friend getting married really soon, weddings and associated wedding parties are definitely on the brain and seeing as how the husband and I will be hosting the day-after wedding brunch for them at our home, this just seemed like an event that we could really identify with. Since we knew we wanted to use the nautical theme, it was natural to  come up with the theme “Anchored.” Navy, red, and white stripes are clean, modern options for decor and the lemons and other pops of yellow keep it from looking too patriotic. The rope as an accent is reminiscent of something you’d find on a ship sailing out at sea, the perfect detail to this nautical party.

True to what you might think about her with her blog being titled Baked by Joanna, this girl can bake.  She came up with these amazing recipes from scratch (which is almost completely unheard of in my home) and I can personally vouch that they were super yummy. With Spiced Walnut Muffins, Blueberry Crumb Bars, and a Peach Tart, guests would definitely have their fill to eat and leave happy.

Super yum, right?

Joanna and I teamed up to create a new set of printables for our soiree’. With a banner and coordinating food labels, we were able to add extra details that helped make the table pop.

A simple sign such as this one would be a perfect welcome to this party. We didn’t have a door to hang it on for our shoot,  but that would be an ideal location for this beauty. I love that Joanna brought along this sailor hat. It added a touch of whimsy to the decor and helped us demonstrate our theme that much more.

I had an amazing time working with Joanna to design this “Anchored” party. Stay tuned for more about this party in days to come!
