Luke’s Blast Off Birthday Wreath

We celebrated out little man’s birthday this past weekend {yes, the whole weekend} and I am slaving away at editing nearly 300 pictures down to the chosen few that I’ll be sharing with you during the highlight post. In the meantime, I wanted to share the wreath that I put together to greet our guests at our front door. The best part about this particular wreath is that although the white base is permanent, the decor on top is completely changeable!

Who’s ready to get started?!?

Materials:

straw wreath form * 1 yd. white flannel, washed

hot glue * scissors * glue dots * ribbon

die-cut pennants, letter, and rocket shapes

Start by cutting your pre-washed flannel into 2 inch wide strips. I started off by cutting three of them and then cut more as I needed them. Wrap the strips snugly around the wreath form, making sure not to leave any gaps or visible parts of the form. Because I used flannel, I didn’t need to glue as I went or pin anything; I hot glued the ends of each strip when I was finished wrapping the entire form.

For the decor of the wreath, I used all glue dots to secure the materials so that they could all be easily removed later on. I started by adding a letter to each pennant. I love the pennants I downloaded from Silhouette; they have perforated tabs at the top perfect for hanging.  String a piece of ribbon across the middle of the wreath and attach the pennant panels. Add the rocket and flames with glue dots to finish off the wreath.

Little man was super excited with how it turned out and it was the perfect addition to our party decor! Watch out for the rest of the week as I share more of his party!

I love your wreath for sooo many reasons!! Wreaths are my favorite thing to make, I did a “Blast Off” party for one of my son’s birthdays a couple of years ago, AND I have a Luke too!! Adorable wreath- hope you have a great weekend!
