As promised yesterday, I’m back to share the washi tape gift wrap that my son and I put together for the Colorful Crayon Frame. It’s soo easy.

Seriously.

Cross my heart.

Are you ready?

Before we start I have a confession: I have issues with paying for nice, thick, quality wrapping paper. I’m just way too frugal to spend money on something that will get ripped to shreds in a matter of seconds. I do, however, love the feel of the heavy brown packaging paper used for mailing. I picked up a huge roll at Target for $4 over a year ago and I’m still using it.

After wrapping the frame in the brown paper, I let Luke choose two patterns of washi tape from my stash. He then put the strips down to create shapes (flowers in this case). To finish of the wrapping, I gave him a Sharpie marker (with major supervision) to use for writing his name.

Luke was so proud that he had helped wrap his teacher’s gift that I think it was that much more special for him. The best part is that this idea doesn’t just apply to teacher’s gifts. You can use it for any occasion; just change the washi tape to match the celebration!

  1. I love it! And I’m with you on the wrapping paper. For Christmas I got a huge roll of white craft paper for gifts and jazzed them up with fun ribbons. Everyone thought they looked great and I didn’t have to spend a ton of money :)

    • That is a great idea Trish! I’m still trying to use up all of the Christmas wrapping paper that I’ve bought on clearance in years past. It seemed like a great idea at the time… ;)
