Have I ever told you how tough my job is? I mean, for today’s post, I was asked to compare ice cream.
Ice Cream. Life is rough. 😉
But seriously, today I’m comparing two brands of cookies & cream ice cream. I’d love for you to see how things turned out!
Today’s comparison and #SFTasteTest is between First Street Cookies & Cream Ice Cream and Dreyer’s Grand Cookies & Cream Ice Cream. Both brands were purchased at Smart & Final. The First Street Ice Cream was priced $0.40 less than the Dreyer’s Grand.
I love shopping at Smart & Final. Everything is so well laid out and I love the amazing pricing! Plus, I’m always impressed at how well-stocked the shelves are. Nice!

I wrangled my son and Husband to help me with the blind taste test. I’m sure you can tell that I really had to beg to get them to cooperate.
When we were taste-testing and comparing, I referred to the ice cream as the “Red One” and the “Yellow One.” Luke couldn’t have really cared less which one was which, but the Husband was convinced from first glance that the red one was the Dreyer’s Grand. He said it just looked better.
After digging in, both of my guys came up with some observations.
- The red ice cream contained more cookie pieces and had a firmer texture.
- The yellow ice cream was creamier and had a smoother texture.
So which one do you think was which? Are you ready for the answer?
The “Red One” was the First Street Cookies & Cream Ice Cream and the “Yellow One” was the Dreyer’s Grand Cookies & Cream Ice Cream. And since you all know how much I love Oreos, you know that I’ll be siding with the ice cream that has more cookies pieces: the First Street Ice Cream!
Smart & Final is going to be hosting a Pinterest Party where you’ll have a chance to win some awesome prizes!
