Momma Needs Some Style!

I’ve lately come to a realization: this momma has lost her sense of style. I’m fairly certain that I pushed out the last smidgeon of hope that I had of being cute or trendy when I pushed out my last child.

Here’s what I look like on a daily basis:

In one word: scary. I also have these shoes that I wear about 98% of the time because I own the identical ones in black. When I find something I like, I buy multiples in various colors and never look back. Seriously.

I’ve decided it’s time for a change and I’m turning to People Style Watch and In Style for help.

I remember reading these magazines before my kids arrived and eating up all of the tips and tricks that they offered. Today I’m making the change to get back to that woman who enjoyed getting dressed up and ready to seize the day in something other than sweatpants.

Target is helping my cause this week! Through Saturday, when you purchase both the December issue of People Style Watch and the December issue of In Style, you’ll receive a $5 Target Gift Card to be used on a future purchase.

I took some cues from the magazines as I was doing some shopping and tried out a few new ideas. I love these pink heels that I found at Target and I was seriously considering taking them home with me. Then I remembered I have two toddlers and chasing my lightning fast son would be tough in these bad boys.

I stumbled across these earrings and fell in love. It’s a small step towards making a bigger effort in my daily appearance and I don’t feel like I was breaking the bank by purchasing them. Super cute, right? I feel like I can dress them down for daily wear and dress them up for a special night on the town.

What will you do to update your look?

I try to never be “matchy-matchy.” Colors should just go with each other/compliment each other. Given even basic clothes a nice visual interest. But I almost always have one pop of color. For instance, if I am wearing a black dress, either the shoes or the bling (or sometimes both) have to be something bright like red. I <3 red!
