Holiday Handmade with Craftiness is Not Optional

I am so stinkin’ excited for today’s gest post for the Holiday Handmade series! I’ve admired Jess’s work on Craftiness Is Not Optional for a long time now. She comes up with the most amazing clothing tutorials for the little ones. Can you believe she’s here to share with us?!?

Hey all! I’m Jess, from Craftiness is not Optional! I love sewing, crafting, and making things in general. (especially cupcakes 😉 I love making gifts for people as well! This chunky bead necklace is quick, easy, and oh so adorable.
You’ll need:
large wooden beads (I got mine for about $4 at Joann’s)
spray paint
foam (I got mine at the dollar store)
bamboo skewers
1/4″ satin ribbon
First, for each bead, insert two bamboo skewers into the hole. One was too skinny, but two worked great! Stick the other end into the foam.

Spray paint them! Make sure to cover all the angles, and paint light, thin coats to avoid drippage and splotchiness. (both are ugly!) I flipped my beads over once they dried and got the bottom side as well.

Let them dry completely.

Cut your ribbon…you can have it be as long as you like, of course. I cut  mine to be about 30″ long.

Heat seal (with a lighter, carefully!) the ends of the ribbon, then push it through each bead til you have as many as you want on the necklace. The stiff edge from the lighter will help this.

Then tie a knot (or double knot to keep beads from slipping off) on either side of the two end beads.

Tie it around your nearest cutie and admire!

This is perfect for big girls, too!

Thank you so much Jess! Who wants one of these super awesome necklaces for themself? I do!
