Today’s post for the Holiday Handmade series is from one of the nicest, most generous people that I’ve had the chance to meet since entering into the blogging world: Laura from Pink Cake Plate. Do you remember the Girlies’ Day Out party? All of the cake plates were borrowed from her!

Hi Sweet Rose Readers!! I am Laura and I blog at Pink Cake Plate . I am so excited to be here as you all know Katie is AMAZING!! She knocks my socks off with her Photography and her Party Stylings are amazing!!
I love Katie’s Holiday Handmade series and I am glad to share with you my contribution!! It took me while to figure out what I wanted to do and when I finally got down to making my project, it only took about an hour and a half to make!! I was given the “Girls” category. Now I have a one year old granddaughter and I could make things for her all day long but I wanted to make something for an older girl!! I wanted it to be something that could grow with her too. With that in mind I headed to Target and went to the girls toy section…
Have you seen all the crazy cute things there are for girls??? Here are some of my favorite things I found:
DISCLAIMER I AM NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER AND THEREFORE APOLOGIZE FOR MY PHOTOS!!! LOL! 🙂
Now girls love to take stuff with them when they go places and they need something to carry these “Girl things” in!! I love working with Denim and I love re~purposing things. I had this laying around my craft room.
It had potential!! It went from a thrown away mini skirt to this:
It is a Girls Denim Mini Bag!
I think it turned out pretty cute!! I had my cutie patootie friend Jaycee test it out for me!!
Jaycee gave it a 2 thumbs up!! Her mom Molly said it would be great for water bottles too!! It is great for those cute little girly things.
The other nice thing about this is the flowers on the front are a pin and you can use it multiple ways.
I had the felt flowers and simply hot glued them to another piece of felt and added a pin!! Easy as Pie!!
Now I mentioned I wanted it to be somthing that could grow with them. The mini bag is big enough to hold a paperback book or a small e-Reader. It is also big enough for Jaycee’s DS or a notebook!!
I used less than a half a yard of fabric, about a yard of jumbo rick-rac and a free denim skirt so this probably cost less than $5 to make!!
Thank you for letting me visit here today!!! Katie I luv ya!!!
