Well, Christmas is quickly approaching this year…more quickly than I’m really ready for. I took time this weekend to enjoy my family and some of my best friends when I really should have been getting a thousand things done and ready for the impending holiday weekend. Since that obviously didn’t happen, I’m now in a mad panic to get all gifts finished, wrapped, and ready for delivery in T-5 days.
Enter #ElmersHoliday and X-ACTO. Their lines of Memery Keeping items have seriously saved my gift wrapping skills this Christmas. I could buy the bag of pre-made bows, but where’s the fun, crafty blogger type of thinking in that? Here’s what I came up with:
Super cute, simple, and inexpensive to make with items you might already have around your home! Keep reading to find out how to make these goodies and how you could have a chance to win Elmer’s and X-ACTO goodies of your own {valued at over $250!}.
You seriously have the chance to enter an entire wall {or one of each product} of the Memory Keeping section of Elmer’s and X-ACTO products. I’ll give you more details at the end, but I just wanted to give you the heads up now. Here’s the wall at my local Walmart:
See how neat and pretty everything is? I love it! If you’d like to read more about my shopping trip and about all of the products I fell in love with that I wasn’t able to use for gift wrapping, head on over to my Google + page.
Now on to the tutorial! I gathered up all the materials that I thought I’d be using. You’ll notice that as I go through the tutorial, I didn’t use everything pictured, but I’m a girl who likes options. Any and all of these items would make amazing additions to the gifts under your tree!
Materials for the Flower:
Elmer’s CraftBond Flexible Dual Tip Glue Pen * Elmer’s CraftBond Glue Spots Thin Medium
silver standard cupcake liners * white mini cupcake liners
Materials for Gift Wrap:
Elmer’s Craft Bond Scrapbooking Tape-Permanent
X-ACTO Scissors * gift wrap
Start by flattening out a silver cupcake liner. Fold the mini cupcake liner in half and then in half again. Dab a little glue and press the folded liner firmly onto the flattened sliver liner. Repeat this process until you have four white liners forming a circle. You’ll make another layer on top of the first but put them closer together. Let your glued liners dry for a few minutes. To finish the flower, you’ll need to put a glue spot in the middle of the layers and put two more folded liners on top. The glue spot will hold the liners in place perfectly.
The gift wrapping is super easy; you wrap the gift just like you normally would. Easy peasy, right? Instead of using the old stand-by tape, use the double stick tape! It gives the gift a clean, professional look that I love.
I love how the finished gift turned out! And that white strip wrapped around the gift? That’s just an extra piece of wrapping paper that I put wrong-side-out and secured with more double stick tape.
Materials for the Gift Card Envelope:
Elmer’s Craft Bond Scrapbooking Tape-Permanent * Elmer’s CraftBond Extra Strength Glue Stick
Elmer’s Craft Bond Repositionable Glue Stick
brown postal wrap * die cut tag * die cut snowflakes
sewing machine * white thread
I really honestly tried to make most of my gifts that I gave this year hand made, but some people are just that hard to shop/create for. Gift cards are my go-to in that situation, but who says I can’t make the package hand made?
Cut a piece of postal wrap to 8.5″ x 6″. Fold the wrap up enough so that it will cover your gift card. I eye-balled this part; so precise, I know. Use the double stick tape on each side to create the envelope.
I cut the die cuts on my Silhouette, but you could easily purchase these already cut. Use the permanent glue stick to glue half of the fancy label to the envelope flap. Make sure you don’t use too much glue. You don’t want to glue your envelope shut!
For the snowflakes, I only used this much of the permanent glue. I wanted to be able to curl up some of the points on the snowflakes. When your snowflakes are in place, use the repositionable glue stick to create a line of glue along the inside flap. I got this far and realized my gift card holder needed a little extra something. I sewed a simple zig zag stitch along each side. Perfect!
Two gifts down, a whole lot more to go!
Like I said earlier, you have a chance to win the entire wall of Elmer’s and X-ACTO Memory Keeping Line! Hel-loo awesome! Click on the Elmer’s button on my side bar to get to where you need to go to enter. Good luck!
