Luke {my son} seems to have a thing for rockets. I mean, he insisted he had to have a Rocket Party for his birthday this year and he still wears the shirt that I made him for the big day. As his birthday gift, my MIL surprised him with a new rocket bedding set and he *LOVES* it. Since he’s had the same decor on his walls since he was a newborn, I figured now is time for an update!
I put together this simple and fast Washi Tape Rocket Art to display in his room. Luke’s already super excited for all of the changes and now he can’t wait to see what else his Momma comes up with.
Are you ready to see what his room looked like before and how to create your own super cute wall art?
There are some parts of this corner of Luke’s room that I still love. The shelving and frames were a wedding gift from Pottery Barn and it feels like it would be blasphemy to paint them. I just can’t bring myself to do it just yet. Also, the amazing girls at Lolly Jane made me the sweetest sign for my baby shower; it even made me cry at the time. That is a definite keeper. Other than those few things, everything else needs to go, be reworked, or get organized.
Materials:
frame * navy cardstock * rocket die-cut
washi tape * scissors * glue stick
A few helpful hints: I used my Silhouette to cut out the rocket, but you could find a rocket image online and cut it out to make your rocket shape. THe washi tape I used is found at Target in the office supplies section. $4 for 4 rolls is a great deal!
1. Begin by laying strips of the blue washi tape over the rocket die-cut.
2. Continue placing tape down the rocket until it’s completely covered.
3. Carefully peel the tape away from your crafting surface and trim around the edges to remove the excess tape.
4. Use the yellow washi tape to cover the flame portion. Use the glue stick to glue both the rocket and the flame to the navy cardstock.
Place your handiwork inside the frame and you’re done! Simple and quick; my kind of craft! Stayed tuned for more of Luke’s Room Re-do in coming weeks….

Hi Katie! Beautiful job as always! Neat and unique.
Any chance you could share the siluete? I have the party printables and I’d love to use it for making some decoration.
Many thanks.
