How to Make a Mini Cake

One of Reagan’s non-negotiables for her Cupcake Party is that she had to have her own cake in addition to the cupcakes we were going to be decorating for the party. I had no problem doing this…until I started adding up the costs of her party and didn’t want to spend a small fortune on special cake pans for a tiny cake my daughter was going to smash to pieces. Since I figured out a neat trick, I thought I’d share with you how to make a mini cake of your own!

How To Make a Mini Cake

1. To get started, you’ll just need to bake a cake in 9″ round pans according to the directions on your favorite box mix. Once it’s cooled, release the cake from the pan.

2. Use a 3″ circle cookie cutter to cut four smaller circles from the larger 9″ circle.

3. Place one of the circles on a cake plate. Place one large heap of frosting on it and spread it around the top of the cake.

4. Stack another cake circle on top and add another heaping helping of frosting.

To finish it off, I decorated the cake with paper straws that I pushed all the way through the cake to help stabilize it. Easy peasy and it was super cute!
