Are you ready for the next installment of the Summer Fun Reading Series? My kids are for sure! Luke loved the Miss Nelson is Missing book and craft so much that he’s been begging me since last week to read a new book. Who am I to turn down his sweet little face? 😉
Today’s book that we’re reading is Clifford: Teacher’s Pet.
Summary: Clifford and his friends attend a dog training school where they are instructed to complete various tasks. One of the dogs is unsure that the teacher thinks that he’s doing a great job. The book follows his journey and of course, it has a happy ending. I love that it has a positive self-esteem message too.
Activity: Simon Says is the perfect match to this fun book. Just as the teacher tells the dogs in the story what to do, I chose to play a similar game with my kids. Reagan is still figuring out the game, but Luke caught on right away and loves the challenge. I’d also like to think that this works on his listening skills too, but it hasn’t quite translated to other situations just yet. I guess we’ll have to just keep practicing to get it right.
Happy reading!
