Happy Project Life Saturday y’all!
I’m thrilled to have you here for another week of the series Project Life for Beginners. If this is your first time here with us, you’ll want to check out this page to catch up on past posts. Let’s dig right in!

Another week down ladies and gents! It’s crazy to me that I’m already over eight weeks into this amazing Project Life journey. When I embarked on this shortly after I purchased my Jade kit from HSN, I never imagined that I would now own four full kits, a mini kit, two albums, and countless pocket pages. I’m addicted. But really…how could I not be? It’s a simple creative outlet where I get the chance to preserve my family’s treasured memories and because I’m doing it for the whole family, the Husband can’t really complain about how much I spend. 😉
Before I show off this week’s spreads, I want to share something that you might not know about if you’re brand spankin’ new to Project Life and all of its awesomeness — Digital Project Life. There are multiple uses for the digital kits: creating pages in a photo editing program like Photoshop, printing out extra cards, or having access to the Project Life kits (even some of the brand new ones!) if you don’t have a retailer in your area.
Here are two of the digital kits I’ve been contemplating (mostly because I can’t get the physical version in my hands just yet).
Digital Project Life Kit: Kraft
Digital Project Life Kit: Rain
There a few of other digital kit bonuses that I can think of off the top of my head. First, the digital kits don’t take up any space in your home. If you’re short on square footage or storage space, the digital versions take up no extra room. Also, the digital versions offer patterned paper that coordinates with the kits. I think it would be nice to be able to have that extra option. Last, with the digital kits, you don’t have to purchase the whole she-bang. You can purchase the journaling cards, filler cards, and all the other components separately if you want.
Okay. Enough about Project Life in the digital format. I’ll get off my soap box and get back to the regularly scheduled PL awesomeness.
In last week’s post, I shared some basic layouts of my family’s trip to Disneyland, so this week you’ll get to see the rest. Some layouts have embellishments, some don’t and that’s my personal style. Did you figure out what suits you best?
Layout One
The first spread of the week is the character breakfast we went to the first day we were in the park. The Honey edition was the perfect match with the fun, bright colors of the characters and atmosphere, but I purposely left off the embellishments because there was already so much going. If I find the right extras, I might go back and some more later, but for now, it’s all good.
Luke’s face in the bottom left picture is one of my favorites from the whole trip. I’ve not seen laugh SO hard before!
Layout Two
Mickey and Merida. Need I really elaborate?
There is an amazing series of digital printables perfect for working with Disney on your Project Life pages from Sahlin Studio. In addition to some Midnight Kit cards, I used her freebies on this page. It added the perfect touch of Mickey to a page already dedicated to his coolness.
I’m fairly certain these Thickers probably belong to some Christmas collection, but I really didn’t care. When I spotted them on clearance at my local craft store and I knew that I had Disneyland pages in my near future, I snapped the last two packages up.
Oh Miss Merida, how does my son love thee. Really, I’m positive Luke would ride off into the sunset shooting arrows with Merida if given the chance. The Jade edition was a perfect coordination to the colors of Merida’s set-up.
The cork arrows and chevron pieces just made sense with this page. I think it added a great rustic touch that tied in well with Merida.
Layout Three
More of the Midnight Kit was used on this spread. I adore how well the Midnight kit works with all things classic Disney.
The fireworks show was a big thing for our kids. They were enthralled with the beautiful colors and how well the music lined up the show. I used a few more Sahlin Studio Project Mouse freebies to round things out
Oh, Pluto. He may not be the most popular character or the most loved, but Luke was just as thrilled to get to spend some time with him as he was with any other character. I think Luke secretly loved that Pluto was decked out for Christmas still.
A sweet little button added a little extra pop of visual interest. 🙂
Layout Four
I have a confession: I purchased the Honey kit with the sole intention of using it for this particular layout. Reagan’s absolute favorite part of the entire Disney trip was getting to meet and hug the Princesses. If you know Reagan personally, you know that she isn’t one that takes to new people very quickly. She’s naturally reserved and shy around new people and it takes quite awhile for her to warm up. That was so not the case with the princesses. She ran right up to Cinderella and gave her the biggest hug. It was magical.
The bright pinks and the bold prints were a perfect match to the colors of the princess’ dresses.
This was my first go with wood veneers and I love the little hearts.
Washi tape. Swoon.
It was obvious that Cinderella was the hands down fave of Reagan’s, but she was equally as friendly with Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, as well. So precious.
Three princesses. Three year old baby girl. A three to represent the number of embellishments from Maggie Holmes.
Homework time! Try completing another three layouts this week and bonus points for those that finish more! (I totally made up bonus points just now; they aren’t really a thing, although I could totally recommend giving yourself a pat on the back!)
As always, I’d also love to share some of the work of those who are following along! If you’d like to have your pages featured, e-mail me the images and a brief description at katie {at} sweetrosestudio {dot} com.
I was provided product from American Crafts, but all opinions and ideas are 100% my own. I just love the Project Life products that much!

Absolutely stunning pages!!! I love the simplicity, yet how good it all looks!!! You totally rocked it!!! I’m even more excited to go to Disneyland after looking at your sweet pages. I think I might know of a couple of reasons why Luke might love Merida so much…. (maybe)?
It was right around the time he met two of the cutest little Meridas I ever did see that he became so enthralled with the movie… 😉
Wow, I love how well you incorporated the PL kits with Disney! I would have never thought of that, but they look amazing! Especially Honey for the Princess pages. Looks fantastic!
