Happy Project Life Saturday y’all!
I’m thrilled to have you here for another week of the series Project Life for Beginners. If this is your first time here with us, you’ll want to check out this page to catch up on past posts. Let’s dig right in!
***
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I *adore* Project Life, possibly bordering on the point of obsession. I love the designs, the simplicity, the genius of the whole system. I’m finally able to get our family’s memories in a physical book my children can look back on for years to come. I can use my creativity if I’d like by adding extra embellishments or keep it completely simple and my spreads make me happy either way.
I’ve noticed something this past week though: I get so caught up in the Project Life part of our memories that I sometimes lose sight of the actual memory-making part. Oops. I’ve realized that I have a tendency to caught up in a project with my blinders firmly in place. That just won’t do as I started to feel like I was missing out on certain things with my kids. So this week when I could’ve spent time editing pictures, I took my kids to the library and read books with them. And the time I could’ve been embellishing? Yeah, that was when we went on a run to Dunkin Donuts to celebrate National Donut Day. I mean, National Donut Day should be a bank-recognized holiday in my opinion.
With all that being said, I have two layouts this week instead of the typical three I set as a goal for myself. And you know what? The Project Life police aren’t on there way to arrest me or have I been sent to the Principal’s office for not finishing my homework. Life happens and you make the best of it, whatever your best might be. My best this week was spending more time celebrating my children and our summer. Your best will probably be completely different than mine and that’s perfect!
Let’s move to the reason you’re here: Project Life!
Last week we chatted about the digital versions of the Project Life kits and their awesomeness. In fact, since that post, a new Rad Dad digital-only kit has been released! This week, I want to touch upon the digital kits that are available but aren’t specifically “Project Life.” There are oodles of designers that sell digital kits made to fit within the Project Life system and are a great option for those looking for something different. I have lots of digital kits pinned on my Project Life Pinterest board plus you’ll be able to find some awesome freebies on there too!
Are you ready for the two spreads for this week?
Layout One
This spread was my first ever where I didn’t use any Becky Higgins Project Life cards and to be honest, I felt like I was cheating on Becky. There are some great Project Life freebies out there and one of my faves is this sweet set from Miss Tiina, which is what I used here. Each side of this layout is a completely separate event, but the filler and journaling cards unify them. It’s a sure fire way to make your pages work together.
Label Maker Stickers from Pebbles
Layout Two
I reverted back to my trusty Jade edition for Luke’s preschool graduation spread. The colors and style coordinated perfectly with the banner his preschool teacher created and hung.
I used some random alphabet stickers to create the title and date for this card; I was sad that my beloved Thickers were just too big.
Making a card pop can be as simple as tracing over words that have already been written. I traced the word gift with my Slick Writer to make it stand out.
Homework time! I challenge you to use one version of Digital Project Life, even if it’s as simple as printing off one of the freebies ( heck — that’s what I did!) and incorporate it into one of your spreads for the week.
As always, I’d also love to share some of the work of those who are following along! If you’d like to have your pages featured, e-mail me the images and a brief description at katie {at} sweetrosestudio {dot} com.
I was provided product from American Crafts, but all opinions and ideas are 100% my own. I just love the Project Life products that much!

Love it! What fun memories. Congrats to Luke for all the progress. Are you doing yours week by week? I have been so stuck on getting caught up- I’m not present! This fall I think I will start the week by week approach.
I haven’t been doing mine week by week, more of an event by event style. I feel like I get even more un-present if I tried to do it week by week, but that’s just me. 🙂
In the past day I’ve read through all of your project life posts and I have to say I love them! I’ve noticed that your pictures always have a lovely faded color look to them… kind of vintage but not overdone in an instagram-ish way. I was wondering what image manipulation software you use and how you achieve this effect? I’m especially found of the way the left side of the layout one from this weeks looks =D
I use Photoshop to edit my pictures and just use free actions from there. Hope this helps!
any specific action and where would one acquire them?
I love your layouts! I have recently begun doing Project life and pinned this for some inspiration!
