Who’s up for some more Birthday Week fun today? I’ve been loving getting to share all of these super awesome birthday ideas and today’s post doesn’t disappoint! For the next installment of the Summer Fun Reading Series, we’re going to be working with Laura Numeroff’s If You Give a Pig a Party. If you’ve never read any of Laura Numeroff’s series of If You Give a Mouse… books to your kids, you might be living under a large rock, but mostly you’re missing out. Get ready to have some party fun!
Summary: All of the If You Give… books follow the same pattern of a cause and effect plot line. This story starts with a little girl offering to give a pig a party and then follows the adventures of the girl and pig, eventually leading back to a the pig asking for a party. Super cute.
Activity: We are decorating birthday party hats! Let me just say this — it is no one’s birthday in our family right now, but my kids still had a blast making these. They’re now playing birthday party in their play room with these sweet little party hats all. the. time. and honestly? My party-loving heart couldn’t be more thrilled. 🙂
Materials:Â
- party hats (I used THESE ONES from Petite Party Studio and adore them)
- foam stickers
- white puffs
- washi tape
- glitter glue
I found all of these items in my craft stash at home. Don’t stress about going out and buying a whole lot of stuff for this. (Unless you want to…and then we might be long lost BFF’s.)
Directions:
Assemble your hats and let your kids’ creativity shine! I helped Reagan with the placement of her glitter glue, but because most everything else was sticky already, each kid was able to complete 95% of this project completely on their own!
Here’s my sassy girl modelling her finished party hat. Aren’t they just the cutest?
And in case you’re the kind like me that appreciate a solid before and after shot:
I have my fingers and toes crossed that you’ll love this book and project as much as we have. For now though, I’ll leave you with a fun outtake from the mini-shoot with Reagan. This girl…
