Birthday Wishes Jar

A few weeks back, I was lucky enough to be invited to an At Home Bloggers Night. While browsing around with some pretty awesome people, we stumbled across a display of some pretty fantastic mason jars with chalkboard labels that were just screaming for someone to do something fun with them. It occurred to us then that each of us had a different fun idea and it might be even more fun if we each shared our ideas with you!

With Sarah’s second birthday coming up way more quickly than I’d like to admit, I’ve got party prep on the brain. I’ve been trying to come up with a creative way for her to remember her second birthday in years to come and this mason jar was the perfect solution. I’ve put it together as a Birthday Wishes Jar!

Birthday Wishes Jar

The concept is actually pretty simple and doesn’t require a crafty bone in your body. Sometimes, those are the best kind of projects!

Materials:

large mason jar

chalk marker

coordinating card stock

pens

Directions:

One. Begin by simply writing “Birthday Wishes” on the chalkboard label of the mason jar. If you can’t find a mason jar with the chalkboard label on it, you could also cut the wording in vinyl or write it on a piece of card stock and stick it to the jar.

Two. Set out card stock pieces that coordinate with the colors of the party. Because we’re doing a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme for Sarah’s shin dig, I chose to use white, yellow, and red. Also, I cut my pieces to be on the smaller side at 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches. If you want your guests to have more space to write, you could easily cut the card stock to a larger size.

Make sure to set out enough pens so that multiple guests can be sending birthday wishes at the same time, especially if you have a lot of people being invited. You want everyone to get a chance to leave a note!

Now that you’ve seen the Birthday Wishes Jar, it’s time to check out some of the other fab ideas!
