The holidays are coming. I repeat, the holidays are coming! with time seemingly moving at warp speed these days, I’ve learned that I really need to plan ahead and get as much of my Christmas stuff organized and ready to go as early in the season as possible. One major way I’ve learned to help ease the stress of November and December is to create a little wrapping station for myself, filled with my five must-haves for holiday gift wrapping. Curious what they are?
One: Gift Wrap
While this would seem to be a fairly self-explanatory item needed for a basket of wrapping goodies, I never seem to amaze myself at how I always seem to forget to buy the good stuff that can’t be seen through by prying, little, sneaky eyes.
Two: Quality Scissors
Using dull scissors is like nails on a chalkboard. Seriously. Between the paper shredding as you’re trying to create a simple cut, to the squeaky noises that accompany it, you’ll be hard pressed to find any wrapping experience enjoyable with a shoddy pair of scissors. A quality pair of shears don’t cost very much but can make a world of wrapping difference. Helpful hint: use scissors that have only been used on paper when wrapping gifts. Ones that have been utilized to cut fabric or ribbon can make things tricky.
Three: Adhesive
This particular element of the holiday gift wrapping basket is probably what I’m the least picky on quality-wise because it all boils down to the quantity of tape you have on hand. Stock up on a bunch of rolls at the beginning of the season so you’re set for months. It’s not like you have to worry about an expiration date for adhesive, right?
Four: Batteries
Have you ever had to scrounge for batteries in the middle of Christmas morning present-opening because your sweet little one wants to play with their new toy NOW? I can readily admit that this happened more times than I care to admit in my first few years of parenting. Now, I’ve gotten in the habit of keeping a stash of RAYOVAC® batteries amidst my wrapping goodies so that I can add whatever size of battery I need to the packaging to save us all the headache on the big morning and because RAYOVAC® batteries are super reliable and totally affordable, I don’t feel bad keeping all of the necessary types on hand.
Five: Decorations
I feel like the extra fluff adding to any gift is either a love or hate situation, depending who is wrapping the gift. Whether you like to keep it stark with a basic name tag, simple with a few strategically placed sticky bows, or more intricate with something Martha Stewart would find acceptable, plan accordingly now so you have the adequate supplies at hand when they’re needed most. I tend to stick with the simple by adding a length of twine, but do what works best for YOU!
As a way to get your holiday gift wrapping off to the right start, one lucky winner gets to walk away with a Prize Pack from RAYOVAC®! Sweet deal, right?!
