Triple Chocolate Slow Cooker Dump Cake

It’s barely December and I already feel like I’m behind the proverbial holiday eight ball. Between Christmas parties, recitals, school activities, shopping for numerous gifts, and everything else that makes this last month of the year crazy, I’m already struggling to keep up. I’m sure you can relate. My solution: find simple life hacks that can streamline all of those extra tasks piling up.

When I was asked recently to prepare a dessert for a party we have coming up on the same day as my daughter’s dance recitals (yes, two – we’re a die hard dance family), I knew that this Triple Chocolate Slow Cooker Dump Cake was the perfect recipe for two key reasons. One – it’s delicious, and two – it literally cooks itself in my BLACK+DECKER® slow cooker while we’re gone.

Ingredients:

one box chocolate cake mix

one package (3.9 oz) chocolate pudding mix

1.5 cups milk

1 cup butter, melted

1/4 cup chocolate chips

Optional: vanilla ice cream and/or mini chocolate chips for garnish

Directions:

Step One. Spray the inside of the stoneware pot with non stick cooking spray.

Step Two. Pour the box cake mix, the chocolate pudding mix, the milk, and the melted butter into the prepared pot and mix thoroughly, making sure that no dry mix remains.

Step Three. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the batter.

Step Four. Set your slow cooker to low and let it cook for about 3 hours. If you get antsy like I do while cooking and feel like checking on your cake, be prepared to add additional cooking time to what I recommend.

Helpful Hint: Because this slow cooker dump cake ends up being moist on its own – which is totally okay because there are no eggs in the recipe – it’s helpful to add a paper towel in between the stoneware pot and the lid to catch the condensation that forms on the lid.

This slow cooker dump cake literally took me five minutes to prep and because of the timer, I’ll be able to set it and attend the recitals without worrying about over-cooking my dessert.

Another aspect of the BLACK+DECKER® slow cooker that I’m loving: the chalkboard exterior. Depending on our event, I can easily write the name of the recipe directly on the slow cooker, I can choose to doodle to my heart’s content, or I can even let my kids go to town with the chalk. Love. And if chalkboard isn’t quite your cup of tea, they have lots of other styles and designs that will fit anyone’s decor. Curious about the BLACK+DECKER® slow cooker or the line of BLACK+DECKER® small kitchen appliances? You can find them on AMAZON.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of BLACK+DECKER®. The opinions and text are all mine.
