My Getting Fit Journey

There are this magical group of people that roam the face of the earth that actually enjoy working out. Here’s the thing, though – I’m not a card carrying member of this group. In fact, I’m probably not even related to anyone that falls in that group. I don’t enjoy sweating even a little bit and I’ve got a sweet tooth a mile wide. It’s always been a struggle for me to get back in to shape after my kidlets are born, but now that my youngest is over two and a half, I’ve realized that I can’t put off the inevitable anymore. My getting fit journey is exactly that – a journey. It hasn’t been pretty or even remotely easy so far, but I have figured out a few tricks that have made this my most successful attempt at getting in shape so far that I’m happy to share with you!

One. Make a Plan…and write it down.

I have a habit of coming up with all kinds of grand plans and big ideas that don’t quite make it out of my head and never come to fruition. This is a really big reason why I waited over two and a half years to attempt to get back in to shape after my last baby; I knew what I wanted to do, but never committed to actually doing it. By creating a written schedule that I post in my kitchen on a weekly basis, I have a daily visual reminder that keeps me accountable and on track during this journey.

Two: Start working out.

Probably my biggest hurdle in getting fit is finding out a style of exercise that works for me. Seriously. I’ve been a member at a large gym where I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people attending and intimidated by the equipment that I had no clue what to do with. I’ve attempted various home dvd systems to work out in the comfort of my own home, but ended up napping when my kids did instead of dedicating the time to working out.

I’ve recently joined a local pilates studio and it’s been the absolute best thing for me as fas as working out goes. There are small class sizes and there’s always someone telling me exactly what to do and how to do it. I’m a good sore and although I am sweating profusely (ick), I’ve found a method of getting sweaty that doesn’t make the actual sweat all that bad.

Now, I am by no means saying that pilates and those fun reformer machines are for every single person that is on the road to getting fit. No way! What’s most important is trying lots of different methods and finding the one that works best for YOU and YOUR journey. I may love pilates, but you may enjoy a bootcamp or kickboxing instead. I feel more invested in regularly attending because I actually like going.

Three: Eat everything…in moderation.

I have a pretty serious love/hate relationship with food: I love to eat all of the food and I hate how it makes me gain weight. I also have a dedicated sweet tooth that enjoys all of the rich, decadent, tasty foods that have the most calories. Boo!

This getting fit journey has made me re-evaluate all of the foods I was putting in my body and how it affected the results that I’m trying to get to. I’ve had to cut out some of my favorite treats, but I’ve thankfully found some replacements that are much better for me and taste just as good.

My go-to midnight snack now, without a doubt, is ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Cream. ProYo is a revolutionary high-protein blend that combines delicious taste, powerful nutrition, clean ingredients, and a touch of delight, so not only do I get that yummy treat with an awesome taste, I also know that I’m fueling my body lots of extra protein and a good source of fiber.

I found my ProYo at my local Fry’s Food Stores, but ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Creams are available nationwide at Kroger and other banner stores. Curious if its carried at a store close to you? Use this store locator to find one near you.

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and ProYo, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #ProYoHighProteinIceCream http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV
