There is just something about a classic polka dot pattern that just gets to me. I haven’t come across any part of my home where those sweet little dots don’t have a place, and as it seems now, even my seasonal decor is fair game to get the patterned treatment. This simple polka dot painted pumpkin works perfectly for Halloween, but can also be left out for the entirety of the fall season.
Materials:
Chalky Decor Paint in Everlasting and Relic
coordinating ribbon
sand paper
Directions:
Step One. Paint the entire wood pumpkin with the Chalky Finish Paint in Relic. Allow it to dry completely.
Step Two. Press circle stickers to the center section and outside sections of the pumpkin, spaced evenly or randomly.
Step Three. Paint over the top of the stickers with the Chalky Finish Paint in Everlasting. Apply enough paint so that the black paint does not show through. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Step Four. When the white paint is completely dry, use the weeding tool to peel each of the circle stickers off to reveal the polka dot pattern.
Step Five. Rub the sand paper along the edges of the pumpkin to distress it. I didn’t distress my version too much, but feel free to get as crazy with distressing as you’d like!
Step Six. Tie a coordinating ribbon to the stem of the pumpkin.
I love that this fun polka dot painted pumpkin adds a touch of modern whimsy to our fall decor and can stay out the whole season.
