Girls’ Jewelry Box

With the holidays coming at us faster than I can keep up with, I decided it was about time to get started on making some Christmas gifts for some of my family and friends. My seven year old daughter has managed to accumulate far more accessories than I care to think about, but since they’ve started to completely take over the top of her dresser, it was time for a better organizational solution. A sweet girls’ jewelry box seemed like perfect solution! Keep reading all the way to the end so you can vote on some other awesome vinyl gift ideas and be entered in a fun giveaway from Expressions Vinyl!

Materials:

wooden jewelry box

white chalky finish paint

black chalky finish paint

foam paint brushes

Cricut Air 2 (or similar electronic die-cut machine)

Permanent Adhesive Vinyl in Bright Berry

Permanent Adhesive Vinyl in Jet Black

transfer tape or adhesive plastic wrap

Directions:

Step One. Paint the outside of the jewelry box and the outside of all of the drawers with the white chalky finish paint. Set aside to let them dry completely.

Step Two. Paint the interior of each drawer with the black chalky finish paint. Set them aside to dry completely.

Step Three. Cut the wording from the jet black vinyl and all of the hearts with the bright berry vinyl. You can find the cut files HERE.

Step Four. Using either the transfer tape (which I happened to be out of at the time) or adhesive plastic wrap, transfer the vinyl wording to the top of the dry jewelry box and the majority of the hearts to the sides. I like to use a scraper tool that I have on hand to make the process easier and to really get the vinyl to adhere to the surface better, but you could also use a credit card.

Step Five. There is one small heart in the cut file that I simply peeled from the paper backing and stuck it right above the wording. Three of the four remaining hearts were placed inside the drawers as a fun little surprise and on the back of the jewelry box with my signature so my sweet girl can always remember that I created this jewelry box just for her.

Ta da! I can’t wait to see her surprised little face on Christmas morning when she gets a load of this little beauty!

I’ve teamed up with 11 other amazing bloggers in a fun competition! We’ve each created our own version of a creative gift idea using vinyl and we’d love for you to vote with one you like best. (I’m number 11, just in case you wanted to send some votes my direction).

Head over to the Expressions Vinyl blog to vote and to get more details on a super fun giveaway!

I received product to complete this project and this post contains affiliate links. All opinions and ideas are 100% my own, as always.
